White Backing Boards
If you’re embarking upon any arts and crafts project that involves creating a three-dimensional shape, such as a castle, a dolls’ house, a puppet theatre or even a space shuttle, you’ll probably be looking for a folding box board that offers more structural support than the thinner cardboard you find in, say, cereal boxes. Folding boxboard is typically a little thicker so, while it doesn’t lend itself to rolling, it folds easily enough if scored with a craft knife first.
Papercutz offers 500gsm card - gsm stands for ‘grams per square metre’ - in standard paper sizes between A6 (105 x 148mm) and A1 (584 x 841mm), along with A3 Plus, or Super A3 (329 x 483mm), in a single 0.74mm thickness. The folding box board has a light gloss finish on one side and a matt finish on the other and can be bought in packs starting at 10, or 25 sheets, in all the available sizes. Solid white board with a matt finish is a boon for children because it is much easier to apply really bright colours than with card of other finishes.
Of course, it’s not only three-dimensional ‘construction’ projects that can benefit from the properties of high-quality, 500gsm card. If you’re an artist or involved in sales and marketing in any capacity, solid white card can also be used for picture framing, exhibitions, displays, and presentations. Simply mount the image to be displayed on one piece of card, cut a hole of an appropriate size in another, matching piece and place it on top of the first to create a simple picture mount.
